1. Prohibition; Exception: It shall be unlawful for any person to sell, offer for sale, barter, give away, keep or purchase any "wild animal", as defined in section 5-1-1 of this chapter, which is fierce, dangerous, noxious, or naturally inclined to do harm, except an animal shelter, a zoological park, veterinary hospital, humane society shelter, public laboratory, circus, side show, amusement show, or facility for educational or scientific purposes may keep such an animal if protective devices adequate to prevent such animal from escaping or injuring the public are provided.
2. Protected Species: It shall be unlawful for any person to keep an animal of a species prohibited or protected by title 50 of the code of federal regulations or by any regulation or law of the state. (Ord. 87-1, 9-8-1987)
